News from the American College of Rheumatology/Association of Rheumatology Health Professionals
The American College of Rheumatology has formed a Musculoskeletal
Ultrasound task force which is charged to assess the feasibility of
developing certification for use of Musculoskeletal Ultrasound in the
course of Rheumatology Practice. Physician Assistants and Nurse
Practitioners are expected to be included along with Rheumatology
Physicians in this process. Stay tuned for updates regarding
new developments. SPAR′s current secretary, Susan Richmond,
PA-C, is representing the ARHP in this endeavor. You may reach her

The 2009 Census report for rheumatology PAs has been drafted. Find

University PA program in 1996. Founded SPAR in 2002.
Graduated in 1977 from Western Michigan PA program. MS healthcare administrator in
central Michigan in 1987. Clinical instructor, Department of Medicine, Michigan
State University in 1995. Rheumatology practice in Battle Creek, Michigan in 1995.
Graduated in 2005 from Mercy College PA program, St. Marys Hospital, Waterbury,
Connecticut. Peds/NICU, OC 2005 - March, 2006. Joined Arthritis Center of
Connecticut May 2006.
Susan holds a Masters in PA Studies from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy
and Health Sciences PA program. Additionally, she attained Bachelor of
Science degrees in Medical Technology and Health Sciences. She has been
fortunate to become skilled in Musculoskeletal Ultrasound techniques as part
of her rheumatology experience. In addition to SPAR duties, Susan is also
involved in the Committee on Practice for the ACR/Association of Rheumatology
Health Professionals.
Barbara attained her Physician Assistant degree from the University of North
Texas, College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Worth. She completed her
Masters and Bachelors degrees in Social Work from the University of Maryland.

Linda Davis completed a Bachelor of Science in radiological sciences and
then worked in that arena for more than 25 years, acquiring a Master's and
Education Specialist in psychology and counseling along the way . She then went
on to complete a Master's in Health Sciences in Physician Assistant Studies
at Quinnipiac College in Hamden, Connecticutt. She worked in primary care in
underserved, rural health communities before working in her current position as
a PA in Rheumatology at the University of North Texas Health Science Center in
Fort Worth, Texas. She is a member of the Tarrant County Physician Assistant
Association, the Texas Academy of Physician Assistants, the American Academy
of Physician Assistants, the Association of Rheumatology Health Professionals,
and the Society of Physician Assistants in Rheumatology.
Adam graduated from Springfield College in 2003 with a BS in Exercise
Physiology. Upon graduation, he worked as an Exercise physiologist
and PT Aide until going back to school at Purchase college in 2008 for
Pre-med. He is currently in the PA program at Quinnipiac University,
class of 2011.
